City Offering Business Reopening Assistance, Special Event Permit

The City wants to help any businesses interested in operating under the state's revised guidelines, which limit indoor services during the pandemic.

Bakersfield is now offering a new COVID-19 Special Event Permit allowing businesses to temporarily close private parking lots throughout the City, or public streets and sidewalks in Downtown Bakersfield so they can set up outdoor dining seating and/or retail vending areas each day.

Anyone interested in applying for this expedited COVID-19 SEP can do so here.

For assistance with the application process, or if you have questions about the COVID-19 SEP, please call 661-326-3762 or 661-326-3753.

    City Implementing Temporary Precautionary Measures

The City of Bakersfield is in close communication with the Kern County Department of Public Health, the Office of Governor Gavin Newsom and the Centers for Disease Control for the most up-to-date information on the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) in our community.

Public health is a primary concern for the City of Bakersfield and following Governor Newsom’s recent Executive Order, the City is taking precautions to limit the possible spread of and public exposure to the virus.

It is important to note that ESSENTIAL City services such as the Bakersfield Police and Fire Departments, as well as Public Works, are continuing and will not be impacted by these temporary precautionary measures.

However, the Bakersfield Police Department has limited some nonessential services at this time.
